Living Nativity Scene Matera 2025 – Peace and Dialogue

AND LET THERE BE PEACE!
The Living Nativity of Dialogue and Peace in Matera
Since the dawn of time, an infinite love has embraced the Universe. This love reveals itself in God made Man — fragile and humble — who, through the sacrifice of the Cross, shows humanity that the only true power is Love: the Love that unites, forgives, and includes everyone.
15th Edition of the Living Nativity Scene in the Sassi of Matera
The 15th Edition of the Living Nativity Scene in the Sassi of Matera will open on December 5, 2025, and welcome visitors on December 6–7, 13–14, 20–21, 27–28, 2025, and January 3–4, 2026.
This extraordinary Christmas event delivers a powerful message: Peace — not as a slogan, but as a concrete action that touches the heart of each person.
Since the beginning of his papacy, Pope Leo XIV has called for a “disarmed and disarming peace, ” a vision recently reflected in the book “And Let There Be Peace!”
Dialogue and Matera: Mediterranean Capital of Culture 2026
This year’s theme also focuses on Dialogue, as Matera has been chosen as the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2026, in partnership with Tetouan, Morocco.
Matera becomes a crossroads of cultures, tolerance, and social innovation — a meeting point for peoples of the Mediterranean, united by a shared pursuit of understanding and peace.
A Concrete Path to Peace
Each visitor becomes a drop of hope in a world scarred by conflict. Matera stands as a symbol of dialogue and lasting peace, recalling the suffering of children, women, and men in the lands where Jesus was born.
Promoting Peace Through Action
The event is organized by Prisco Provider Eventi & Comunicazioni srl, together with the Diocese of Matera-Irsina and the Municipal Administration, in collaboration with the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and under the High Patronage of the United Nations.
Part of the proceeds will be donated to humanitarian aid for populations affected by war and conflict.
